Ripon Reads - a program of the Ripon Area United Way - partners with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to provide free, high quality age-appropriate books to children under 5 years old who live in the Ripon community.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library engages local partners to co-sponsor and help pay for the program, and in Ripon the United Way is this partner. MOre than 275 local infants and children get books monthly in Ripon, and more than 1.45 million children in 5 countries receive books monthly thanks to the generosity of Dolly Parton and the local co-sponsors in each community.
Inspried by her father's inability to read, Dolly Parton started Imagination Library in 1995. Dolly explains "When I was growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true. I know there are children in your community with their own dreams. They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister. Who knows, maybe there is a little girl whose dream is to be a writer and singer.
The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.”
If your child lives in Ripon you can register for this exciting program online at here. Their first book should arrive in 6-8 weeks and monthly thereafter until they reach 5 years old.
It's free - and there is no catch. Your child's information is never shared or sold. It's a great program to get books in the hands of young children to stimulate their mind and stir their imagination to build a love for reading!
