According to independentwestand.org, a website dedicated to uplifting the importance and value of shopping local, for every $100 you spend at a locally owned business, $68 will stay in the community as opposed to $43 which stays in our local community when you buy at a national chained-owned store.  Furthermore, for every square foot a locally owned store occupies they return $179 to the local community vs. $105 from a chain store.
